Leo Beckmann Obituary

Leo A. Beckmann, 85, of Washington, MO, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. 

Leo was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 21, 1938, the son of the late Raymond & Jesse Mae (McGuire) Beckmann.

Leo was the husband of Anita (Olivio) Beckmann.  They were united in marriage on September 20, 1983, in Chicago, Illinois.  Together they shared 40 years of marriage.

Leo was in the Missouri Air National Guard and served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis 1961 - 1962. 

Leo ran four union businesses in the flooring industry in the St. Louis area including Custom Craft, Missouri Builders, County Interiors, and most recently Craftsman Interiors.  He also volunteered for many years delivering Meals on Wheels.

In his free time Leo enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, traveling, doing Sudoku puzzles, and watching news, game shows, and sports, especially Cardinals baseball. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Leo is survived by his wife, Anita Beckmann, of the home; a daughter, Theresa Uthe, of Linn, Missouri; a daughter, Cherie Jones & husband Randy, of Chesterfield, Missouri; a son, Jeff Beckmann, of O'Fallon, Missouri; a daughter, Angie Stewart & husband Jim, of Richmond, Missouri; a son, Rob Patterson, of Seattle, Washington; a son, Jim Patterson & wife Nicole, of Arnold, Missouri; a daughter Beth Deppe & husband Brian, of Morrison, Missouri; a brother, Joe Beckmann & wife Pat, of DeSoto, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Henderson, of Hillsboro, Missouri; and Rose Mary Guehne, of Lonedell, Missouri; grandchildren, Lara Uthe, Kurt Uthe & wife Sarah, Lea Uthe, Dalton Jones & wife Meghan, Dillon Jones & fiance Abby, Daniel Beckmann, Dallas Beckmann & wife Michelle, Vanessa Beckmann, Adrianna Beckmann, Joshua Stewart & wife Melissa, Zachary Stewart & wife Savannah, Heather Blum & husband Nate, Nathan Patterson, Taylor Patterson, Nick Patterson & wife Rachel, Izick & Jonathan Griffen, Jake Deppe & wife Paige, Gabe and Eli Deppe and Jerica Franklin & husband Tucker, and great grandchildren, Ella, Dawson, Emersyn, Walter, Lillian, Wyatt, Gavin, Ava, Lena, Evie, Kenzie, Charlotte, Ally, Tucker, Letti, Tate and Tyne.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Russell Uthe, two sisters, Kathleen Wood & Barb Cull and a brother, Bob Beckmann.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 23rd from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where a memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
