Michael Carl Martens

Michael Carl Martens, 79, of Hermann, MO, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Caring Hearts & Hands Hospice, Columbia, Missouri. 
 
Michael was born in Aurora, Illinois on February 14, 1945, the son of the late George & Elly (Carlson) Martens.
 
He was the husband of Rita (Didier) Martens. They were united in marriage on November 4, 1977, in Mendota, Illinois. 
 
Michael was a member of St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill, Missouri.
 
He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Aurora, Illinois as a tool room supervisor.  He also taught at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Illinois.  In his free time he enjoyed gunsmith work and target shooting.
 
Michael is survived by his wife, Rita Martens, of Hermann, Missouri; a son, Robert Martens, of Tonica, Illinois; two daughters, Emily Ngui, of Washington; Missouri and Rachel Martens, of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Gary Martens & wife Donna, of Summerfield, Florida;  and Alan Martens & wife Veronika, of Oswego, Illinois; and three grandchildren, Tim Martens, of Hermann and Grace & Evan Ngui, of Washington, Missouri.
 
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill,  with Rev. Tom Lloyd officiating.
